How Deel came about

After graduating from MIT in 2014, co‑founders Alex Bouaziz (CEO) and Shuo Wang (CRO) noticed a trend among their friends: they couldn’t get high‑paying jobs for which they were highly qualified due to visa issues and local labour laws in other countries. It was an apparent problem.

The duo started Deel to make a change for people everywhere by empowering companies to eliminate hiring borders — so anyone, anywhere in the world, could access new opportunities.

At Deel, we’ve always been our first customer, which helps keep us poised to break new ground for our customers. As the company and team grew, we tackled more problems we faced, from onboarding employees to automating tedious processes. Now, Deel has evolved beyond just hiring to simplify every aspect of building a global team.

Meet Our Founders

Alex Bouaziz (CEO & Co-Founder)

Alex Bouaziz is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Deel, the all-in-one HR platform for global teams. Founded in 2019, Deel’s technology helps companies simplify every aspect of managing an international workforce, from culture and onboarding to local payroll and compliance. In just under four years, the company has grown to 4,000+ team members worldwide in over 100 different countries and raised over USD 600M in funding. It has 35,000-plus customers, including Shopify, Nike, and Klarna.

Alex grew up in Paris and graduated from Technion and then MIT with a master's in civil and environmental engineering. Prior to Deel he co-founded investment fund Sarona Ventures. In 2020 he was featured on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Finance list.

Outside of Deel, Alex enjoys cheering on Paris Saint-Germain Football Club.

Shuo Wang (CRO & Co-Founder)

Shuo Wang is the chief revenue officer and co-founder of Deel, an all-in-one HR platform for global teams. Shuo drives Deel's revenue and led the company in scaling from USD 1–100M ARR in under 20 months. Deel simplifies every aspect of managing an international workforce, from culture to payroll and compliance. The company has grown to 4,000+ team members across the globe in 100+ countries, raised over USD 600M in funding, and has 35,000+ customers, including Shopify, Nike, and Klarna.

Prior to Deel, Shuo co-founded Aeris Cleantec and served as CTO until its acquisition by iRobot. Shuo holds a BS degree in mechanical engineering and robotics from MIT, where she met Deel's chief executive officer, Alex Bouaziz.

Shuo is passionate about inspiring more women to get involved in software development, product management, and marketing.
