Facts & Stats

To hire a foreign national in Germany, you need to ensure that they obtain a work permit. This means they must be employed by a German entity and go through the lengthy immigration process. Our Employer of Record (EOR) model can simplify this process. We take on all liabilities associated with hiring the employee, sponsor their visa, and handle the paperwork for their work permit application.

Frequently asked questions

Requirements vary between visa types, refer to our Immigration guide to find more information.

The estimated timeline is 2 to 3 months for Blue Card applications, 1 to 2 months for change of employer application, up to 1 week for change of employer notifications.

With the EOR model, Deel, as the employer, can sponsor and handle the visa application.

If the employee applying for a Blue Card is living in a country outside of Germany at the time of the application, they will need to apply for an entry visa. If the entry visa is issued, the employee can travel to Germany and start working. If the employee applying for a Blue Card is already living in Germany, they cannot start working until the visa is secured.

Employees in need of a change of employer application cannot start working before the application is approved.

In case of a change of employer notification, the employee can start working as soon as the authorities have been notified.
