Minimum Wage Requirements
Individual Income Tax
The employer cost is generally estimated at 16.49% of the employee's salary.
- Social security: 3.50%
- Social tax: 9.50%
- Medical insurance: 3.0%
- Pension contribution: 5.0%
- Employer liability insurance: 0.49%
- Accident insurance: 0.29%

Overtime Pay & Maximum Hours
Standard working hours are 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. The standard work week is from Monday to Friday.
Overtime payment is mandatory. Hours outside of standard work hours are considered overtime. Employees can work a maximum of 2 hours of overtime a day and 12 hours over a month. For additional hours, employees are paid 150% of the hourly rate.
Employees are entitled to 126 days of paid leave. 70 days must be taken before the child's birth. The employee will receive 100% of the salary during this period, and the employer will be responsible for this pay.
Depending on the location of the employee, maternity leave can be extended to 160 days of paid leave.
Terminations in Kazakstan are complex. There is no at-will termination in Kazakstan for employers outside the probation period and termination must be done for just cause.
Compliant terminations include:
- Voluntarily by the employee
- By mutual agreement
- Unilaterally by the employer based on:
- probation period
- objective grounds
- disciplinary dismissal
- performance due to unsuitability for the job
- By the expiration of the contract

Contracts must be in Kazakh, and Russian and can be trilingual. They must be in writing and signed by both parties.
