Individual Income Tax

There is no individual income tax in Bahrain.

Payroll Cost

The monthly employer cost will depend on the nationality and marital status of the employee, as well as their dependents. It can be estimated as 16% for nationals and 8.20% for individuals who hold a visa.

Bahraini Employees: 

  • Social Security (SIO): 16%

Non-Bahraini Employees (Expats):

  • Social Security (SIO): 4%
  • End of Service Benefit (EOSB): 4.20%
  • Labour Market Regulatory Authority: BHD 10

From January 1 2025: 

Bahraini Employees: 

  • Social Security (SIO): 17%
Overtime Pay & Maximum Hours

Standard working hours are 45 hours per week, 9 hours per day, inclusive of a 1-hour lunch break. The standard work week is from Saturday to Thursday. Working hours shall not exceed 48 hours per week.
Overtime payment is mandatory for non-managerial positions. Hours outside of standard work hours are considered overtime. For additional hours, employees are paid:
125% of the hourly rate
150% of the hourly rate for public holidays
