Payroll Cost

Overtime Pay & Maximum Hours

Standard working hours are 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week and the standard work week is from Monday to Friday. Employees can work a maximum of 48 hours per week including overtime.

Overtime payment is mandatory in Macau. Hours outside of standard work hours are considered overtime. The total weekly working hours, including overtime, should not exceed 48 hours. For additional hours, employees are paid 120% of their regular hourly rate.

Overtime may be paid as leave-in-lieu of pay. Working on public holidays is considered overtime and employees are paid at 200% of the regular hourly rate or at 100% of the regular hourly rate in addition to a compensatory rest day within 30 days.
