How Alan consolidated its remote policy and launched international hiring with Deel


The Challenge
Cross-border hiring meets HR policy harmony
Founded in France in 2016, Alan set out to reinvent a rigid health-insurance industry. Today, they’re the digital health partner for millions across Europe. Their ultra-intuitive app gives users all the features they need to take care of themselves: access to doctors and specialists, fast claim reimbursement, trusted health information, preventive care tools, and more.
By 2021, Alan was growing fast and expanding across Europe. They prioritized experienced hires, which prompted them to recruit beyond borders. Remote work was already in their DNA, and after Covid, they doubled down and formalized a stronger remote-friendly policy.
For that, it was crucial to align and harmonize HR policies and compensation packages. With labor laws differing from country to country, ensuring this requires expertise and full compliance.
Manon Trabuc, part of Alan’s People Team and in charge of HR compliance and international HR operations, set out to find an EOR solution that could support the company’s growth ambitions. She shortlisted five providers.

Since 2021, Alan has hired dozens of new team members in five European countries.
Alongside France, Alan is now established in Spain, Belgium, and, more recently, Canada. Deel’s platform will continue to help enrich the team of over 600 “Alaners” with new international talent.
