The Challenge

A U.S. move blocked by visa hurdles

Alex Poe and Gabriela Constantinescu saw the same problem everywhere: new sales reps losing prospects because their training fell short. To fix this, Alex and Gabriela combined their corporate learning backgrounds to create Chambr, an AI-powered sales readiness platform.

With Chambr, sales teams can practice their call scripts against realistic AI personas before speaking with prospects. This role play helps them ramp up in half the time without burning through potential deals.

When Chambr was accepted into Techstars’s accelerator program, both founders were living in Romania. For Chambr to expand internationally, the founders needed to be in San Francisco, the heart of AI development.

But a tourist visa wouldn’t allow them to stay long-term, and they needed to live and work legally in the U.S. after completing the accelerator program. On top of refining their go-to-market, shipping product, and watching their runway, the founders now had to take on U.S. immigration, too.

The Solution

Deel takes the visa process off their plate

The co-founders needed help. They looked at immigration law firms, but those firms weren't even familiar with Techstars. Deel Mobility was the answer.

As a Techstars partner, Deel had already helped other Techstars founders secure O-1 visas. Deel understood the accelerator and its less-than-1% acceptance rate.—context that matters in an O-1 application. Through Deel Mobility, the founders were assigned a Deel immigration expert. The specialist had guided many other clients through the U.S. immigration system, and helped the founders throughout the entire process.

The founders had questions about everything from what-if scenarios to how potential policy changes might affect them. Deel’s support and sales teams answered thoroughly, usually in less than 24 hours. It was a relief to have someone else managing the deadlines, processes, and materials necessary for a successful immigration application.

“Without Deel helping us get the O-1 visa, we wouldn’t have been able to relocate at all. It was huge for us.”

— Alex Poe, Co-Founder and CEO, Chambr

The Results

Founders secure visas and relocate to the U.S.

With the support of Deel, Alex and Gabriela secured O-1 visas, giving them the freedom to live and work legally in the U.S. They’ve since started working with Deel on their applications for green cards, so they can continue to build a life in the country.

In 2024, Chambr raised $400,000 in pre-seed funding. Today Chambr serves customers across North America, Europe, and Asia. They’ve also onboarded companies like Freightwise, Boundless, and Fero Logistics.

“It's hard to put a number on these things. You can't really quantify how important this is. But it was life-changing for us.”

— Alex Poe, Co-Founder and CEO, Chambr

If another Techstars company asked whether to use Deel, Alex would “definitely” say yes. With Deel handling immigration, Alex and Gabriela could focus on what they came to San Francisco to do: scale Chambr.
