The Challenge

Late shipments, security gaps, and zero visibility were holding back a global team

Omniscient Digital is a remote-first organic growth agency serving B2B brands with services like SEO, generative engine optimization (GEO) digital PR, and content strategy. With a team of approximately 30 people spread across 12 countries, the company needed a reliable way to provision and manage hardware for international team members.

Their initial equipment vendor made that nearly impossible. Laptop shipments were frequently delayed by 30 to 45 days. The platform would show a device was being shipped, but on the company’s end, nothing arrived. Team members had to use their personal laptops while waiting—leading to delays in employee onboarding and work assignments since the company couldn’t give them access to client documents or folders on unapproved devices. On two separate occasions, employees even had to purchase their own laptops and wait for reimbursement.

The per-employee pricing model also grew expensive as the team scaled. And without any managed device management (MDM) solution, David Khim—who manages IT operations alongside his CEO responsibilities—had no centralized way to enforce security policies, deploy software remotely, or maintain compliance. He found himself spending hours each week jumping on screen-share calls to walk team members through installations, and constantly nagging employees to install tools like JumpCloud on their laptops, knowing that once people got into day-to-day work, administrative requests were easy to forget.

“We would order a laptop and not really know what was happening with it. We didn’t receive any notifications. Sometimes it would be 30 to 45 days later than expected. We had to have employees on their personal laptops, which limits what we can give them access to.” — David Khim, Co-founder & CEO, Omniscient Digital

The Solution

A surprisingly seamless transition to Deel IT

Omniscient Digital migrated from their vendor to Hofy, which offered a more transparent platform-fee pricing model and a managed device management service that appealed to David. When Deel acquired Hofy, David braced himself for a painful migration—the kind of disruptive vendor transition he’d seen at previous companies. Instead, he got a one-line email telling him he’d been transitioned. He logged into Deel, and everything was already there.

“For what it’s worth, I thought it would be very painful and annoying. But I got the email, I logged into Deel fully expecting I’d have to send an email complaining about missing information, but it was all there. I didn’t need to do anything.” — David Khim, Co-founder & CEO, Omniscient Digital

Automating the device lifecycle with Deel IT

With Deel IT, Omniscient Digital consolidated device lifecycle management and MDM onto a single platform. Laptops now arrive fully configured with all required software and security policies pre-installed. This is important for Omniscient Digital as they work with large enterprise companies that expect that level of security from a vendor.

The MDM layer gives David remote control over the entire fleet. He can deploy software to every device at once, grant temporary administrator access when team members need it, and enforce security policies. Before Deel IT, he’d spend five or more hours per month on screen-share sessions. Now, when someone asks about a piece of software, he can simply push it to everyone’s laptops and let them know it’s done.

“The piece on deploying software has been really easy. I might get a bunch of people asking for software and I just say, hey, I’ve deployed it to everyone’s laptops. You don’t need to ask about this. And it’ll automatically update.” — David Khim, Co-founder & CEO, Omniscient Digital

The security compliance piece is equally important. Every device is automatically enrolled in MDM, giving the company full visibility and control over what’s installed and how machines are configured. David no longer needs to chase team members to install management tools—it’s all handled before the laptop ever reaches them.

“It made me feel a lot better about the security of the laptops, making sure that we have controls over what can and can’t be installed. The compliance piece is completely handled because I know that all our devices are enrolled in our MDM.” — David Khim, Co-founder & CEO, Omniscient Digital

24/7 expert support that fills the IT gap

As a lean, remote-first company, Omniscient Digital doesn’t have a dedicated IT team or system admin specialist. David manages IT operations alongside his other responsibilities, which means having a responsive partner isn’t a nice-to-have—it’s essential. The Deel IT support team has become that partner.

David has jumped on at least 10 calls with the Deel IT support team since the transition. Every time he emails in, he gets an immediate response. Within 24 hours, the team follows up with available times for a call if needed—and they follow through.

“The Deel IT support team has been insanely helpful. I’ve jumped on at least 10 calls with them. I get an immediate response when I email in. Even after the call, they say ‘we’ll get back to you within 24 hours’—and they actually do.” — David Khim, Omniscient Digital

That support proved critical during a real security scare. Late one evening, right before bed, David discovered a potential security exposure on a team member’s device. He didn’t know how to assess the risk himself—whether there had been remote access to the device, what needed to be wiped, or how to lock things down. His first instinct was to email Deel IT support. Even at that hour, someone responded. The Deel team jumped on, ran diagnostics via the terminal, confirmed there was no unauthorized access, and performed a full factory reset as a precaution. It was an incident that could have spiraled, but instead was resolved quickly and confidently.

“The first thing I did was email Deel support. It was 9pm my time but someone responded. They were on call to check diagnostics and recommend actions That made me feel confident that if this happened again, I have a team to support me.” — David Khim, Omniscient Digital

For David, the peace of mind goes beyond any single incident. Knowing that specialists are always available—people who understand device security, MDM configurations, and compliance requirements—means he doesn’t have to carry the weight of IT alone.

“I’ve been very happy with the support and knowing that I am not an IT or system admin specialist, that I have folks who specialize in those things on my side if I need support.” — David Khim, Omniscient Digital

The Results

Faster onboarding, stronger security, and confidence to scale globally

With Deel IT handling device provisioning and management, Omniscient Digital eliminated onboarding delays that previously left new hires waiting weeks for functional hardware. Team members now receive pre-configured laptops and can start with full access on their first day.

The MDM layer has also freed up at least five hours per month that David previously spent troubleshooting IT and access issues. Remote software deployment means he can push updates to the entire fleet without scheduling individual calls. And the security compliance piece is handled automatically, with every device enrolled in MDM before it ever reaches a team member.

Crucially, Deel IT supports Omniscient Digital’s global footprint. The company ships laptops to team members across 12 countries, including regions like Latin America and the Philippines, where logistics can be particularly challenging. Combined with Deel’s contractor payment services—which filled gaps where their previous payment platform didn’t support certain countries—the team can onboard and equip talent anywhere with confidence.

“Employees get their laptops on time, they can start on day one versus day 20. I’m not troubleshooting, I’m not spending five hours a month on IT issues. And if I hire an employee outside the US and I need to deploy a laptop, I know it’ll get to them on time.”
