Contributions to social insurance are calculated on a minimum salary of UAH 8,000 and up to a maximum salary or UAH 160,000 per month.

Congé maternité
Female employees are entitled to 126 calendar days of maternity leave for the birth of 1 child without complications and 140 calendar days for the birth of 2 or more children, or if complications arose during birth. Employees who have adopted a newborn directly from the maternity ward are entitled to 56 calendar days of maternity leave.
For the birth of 1 child without complications, 70 days must be taken before the expected date of delivery and 56 days after the birth. For the birth of 2 or more children, or if complications arose during birth, 70 days must be taken before the expected date of delivery and 70 days after the birth.
This leave is paid for by the Social Insurance Fund at 100% of the employee’s regular salary. The employee cannot extend leave.
Congé paternité
In Ukraine, no law covers paternity leave. However, employees may be entitled to childcare leave.
Childcare Leave:
Employees with children under 3 years old are entitled to up to 3 years of paid Childcare Leave. This leave is paid by social security at a rate calculated as 41,280 UAH divided by 36 months.
To be eligible for this leave, the employee must provide their employer with a birth certificate and confirmation that the other parent of the child did not take this type of leave at their place of work.

Employees in Ukraine are entitled to sick leave based on the following criteria:
- Temporary disability: 4 months continuously from the date disability began
- Recurring disease: 5 months due to the same disease or its complications in the last 12 months
Tuberculosis: within 10 months from the date of onset
Employees must have been employed for at least 6 months and contributed to the social insurance fund.
Sick leave is paid as follows:
1-5 days: paid at 100% of the employee’s regular salary by the employer
6+ days: paid at 50-100% of the employee’s regular salary by the Social Security Fund, based on the length of the employment insurance record

Terminations in Ukraine can be complex. There is no at-will termination in Ukraine for employers outside the probation period and termination must be done for just cause. Compliant terminations include:

The notice period is based on the grounds of dismissal.
- By mutual agreement - no notice period
- During probation period - 3 days of notice
- Voluntarily by the employee - 14 days of notice
- Unilaterally by the employer in cases of redundancy - 2 months of notice

Severance pay is paid if an employee is dismissed from work, not on his own initiative. The amount of severance pay is based on the circumstances of contract termination.

Congés payés
Both full-time and part-time employees are entitled to a minimum of 24 days of paid time off (PTO) a year. PTO varies by type of employee:
- Employees in the first or second category of disabled persons - 30 days of PTO
- Employees in the third category of disabled persons - 26 days of PTO
- Employees under the age of 18 - 31 days of PTO
- Seasonal workers - proportional to time worked
PTO accrues monthly at 2 days per month. Employees are eligible to take PTO after 6 months of work.
