How RealWear automates global payroll with Deel and NetSuite

RealWear builds assisted-reality, head-mounted computers for industrial frontline workers, sold globally through a network of resellers and distributors spanning Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas. As the company expanded into new markets, maintaining a subsidiary in every country where it had employees or supporting operations became increasingly complex relative to the scale of the local workforce.

Finance felt the strain first. RealWear runs NetSuite OneWorld across four subsidiaries with a small accounting team, and multi-country payroll spanning seven currencies required significant manual review and coding each month to ensure everything was classified correctly and assigned to the right cost centers. Just as importantly, sensitive compensation detail was moving through a general finance workflow, creating more exposure than necessary for employee-level payroll data.

Through Deel's EOR, RealWear currently supports employees in six countries: Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Greece, and the Czech Republic, complementing its existing entities in the US, Switzerland, Romania, and India. The mechanism behind it is Deel's native NetSuite integration, live since October 24, 2025.

Every Deel invoice arrives in NetSuite as a fully coded vendor bill, broken out by individual cost component, rather than the invoice total, splitting across salary, payroll taxes, pension contributions, insurance, statutory costs, platform fees, and even individual expense reimbursements, spread across 12 GL accounts and coded by department automatically. Bill payments are then created and applied against the correct bill without manual intervention, and every bill carries the Deel invoice reference as its NetSuite external ID, which helps prevent duplicate posting and keeps every GL line one click from its source document. Deel settles in seven currencies, while the bills post to NetSuite in USD, giving Finance a consistent USD basis for employment costs in the ledger.

Allison set the integration up herself, without an outside NetSuite admin or IT support.

The result is that payroll now moves through the ledger without ever passing through accounts payable. The source invoice syncs to the bill record, with the attachment stored in an HR-restricted location, so compensation detail never reaches a general accounting queue. Employee names are also masked in the memo fields, adding another layer of protection for sensitive compensation data.

One place for everything: Deel and NetSuite in Claude

Getting payroll data into NetSuite is one half of the story. Being able to work with that data is the other. Using Deel’s Connector for Claude alongside a NetSuite connection, RealWear brought workforce and financial data into Claude, allowing both systems to be queried and analyzed through plain-language questions without switching between platforms.

I can ask which countries we employ in, according to Deel, and it lists them. I even asked for a 12-month forecast based on our Deel contracts, and it built one. What started as a payroll integration has become another tool for FP&A, giving Finance a new way to work with the data already flowing through Deel and NetSuite.

RealWear has consolidated 3 international entities and is able to expand into new countries without establishing local entities, moving employment in those markets onto Deel's EOR and reducing the recurring filing, audit, and local-compliance work associated with them. Over nine consecutive months, the NetSuite integration has auto-created 182 vendor bills and 167 bill payments with complete source traceability, and 100 percent reconciliation against Deel's invoices.

Deel activity now generates 22 to 26 vendor bills a month across seven currencies and six countries, against a finance team that hasn't had to expand, saving roughly three hours a month that would otherwise go to bill processing and bank reconciliation.

RealWear expects to reach eight employment countries by September 2026, and plans to keep defaulting to Deel's EOR for new markets, reserving local entity formation for the few where commercial scale justifies it. Allison is also evaluating Deel's employee records integration to keep NetSuite's HR data in sync as the company continues to expand.
