Kudos
Build a recognition culture your team actually feels
Recognition that lives in a thread gets buried within minutes. Kudos makes it permanent, public, and tied to the values behind it, so great work is seen by the whole company, not just one manager.

Good work Deserves RECOGNITION
Celebrate a win before it gets forgotten
Kudos lets anyone in your organization recognize a colleague in seconds. Tag a recipient, add a message, attach a company value, and it goes live immediately in the company feed. No manager approval, no special occasion, no friction.

YOUR ORGanization’s VALUES IN ACTION
Turn values from a document into a daily habit
Link every kudo to a company value. Over time, the company feed becomes a real-time record of which values are actually showing up in how people work, not just what's written in the handbook. Managers and HR get a living picture of culture as it's practiced, not as it's declared.

RECOGNITION IN THE FLOW OF WORK
Give kudos, without opening another tab
Kudos is natively built into the Deel Plugin for Slack. Kudos appear in the company feed and in your designated Slack channel automatically. Recognition reaches your team where they already are, with no extra step for anyone.

FAQs
What are the benefits of Kudos for individual workers?
For workers, Kudos does something simple that most tools don't: it makes their work visible beyond their immediate manager.
- Recognition that doesn't disappear. A kudo lives in the company feed and in the recipient's personal space, permanently, not buried in a Slack thread that scrolled away.
- A record of their contributions. The personal tab shows everything an employee has received and given, filterable by date. Over time, it becomes a log of moments that mattered.
- Recognition in any direction. Employees can recognize anyone, a peer, a manager, someone from another team, without needing a formal process or an occasion to do it.
- Visibility that feels good. When recognition is public and tied to a real value, it signals that the organization is paying attention. That matters for belonging, retention, and motivation, especially on distributed teams.
What are the key features of Kudos?
- Give kudos (via Deel): From the company feed or personal space, tag a recipient, write a message, attach a company value, and optionally cc others. Submits instantly to the feed.
- Give Kudos (via Slack): From the Deel Plugin Home tab in Slack, give recognition without opening the Deel web app. Posts to the company feed and the admin-configured Slack channel automatically.
- Company feed: A shared, public feed of all kudos sent across the organization, visible to everyone regardless of role or seniority.
- My space: A personal tab showing all kudos an employee has given and received, filterable by date range and company value.
- Company value tags: Admins configure recognition tags, the values senders choose from when giving kudos (e.g. "Customer obsession," "Ownership," "Collaboration"). Every kudo is tied to one.
- Cc field: Optionally loop in managers, collaborators, or other stakeholders so recognition reaches the people who should see it.
- Slack channel posting: Kudos posts automatically to the Slack channel the admin configures, no separate announcement needed.
- Real-time Slack notifications: Recipients and the wider team are notified in Slack the moment a kudo is sent.
How does Kudos help HR build a recognition culture at scale?
Building a recognition culture doesn't require a program, it requires removing the friction that stops people from recognizing each other naturally. Kudos does that, and connects to the rest of Engage to make recognition part of a broader people strategy:
- Zero friction for givers. Anyone can send kudos in seconds, from Deel or Slack, with no approval and no minimum occasion. The lower the bar, the more often it happens.
- Company values get reinforced naturally. Because every kudo is tagged to a value, the company feed becomes a data set, HR and leadership can see which values are actively lived, which teams celebrate most, and where recognition is sparse.
- Distributed teams feel connected. A company-wide feed means remote and international teams share the same recognition moments, regardless of time zone or location.
- Recognition feeds into the broader talent picture. While Kudos doesn't yet surface in the formal review context panel the way Instant feedback does, it sits inside the same Engage ecosystem. HR has visibility into recognition patterns alongside performance data, engagement surveys, and development plan progress—all in one place.
- Culture becomes visible, not just declared. Over time, the cumulative feed is evidence of what your organization actually values, and that's far more compelling to candidates, new joiners, and existing team members than a values poster on a wall.
What's the difference between Kudos and Instant feedback?
Kudos and Instant feedback are designed for different moments and should never replace each other. Kudos is for public celebration. It's fast, lightweight, and visible to everyone, tied to a company value and posted to the company feed. No review cycle, no visibility controls, no developmental framing. Use it to recognize a win, reinforce a behaviour, or make someone feel seen. Instant feedback is for documented developmental input. It carries a Public or Private visibility setting, and surfaces automatically inside formal review cycles. Use it when the input is specific, actionable, and matters for someone's growth. The rule of thumb: Kudos to celebrate a moment. Instant Feedback when you want that input to carry forward into a review. Both live inside Engage, and together they cover the full spectrum of recognition and development that keeps people engaged and growing.
Does Kudos integrate with the tools our team already uses?
Yes. Kudos works natively inside Deel, and for teams that live in Slack, the Deel Plugin brings it directly into the flow of work. Give kudos from a conversation, and it posts to the company feed and a dedicated Slack channel automatically, no app switching, no extra step.
Can Kudos be purchased individually?
No, Engage tools like Kudos cannot be purchased individually. Engage is a system that includes check-ins, reviews, goals, surveys, development plans, learning, and career management. There's no requirement to use all, but they are more powerful when used together to create one coherent talent management strategy.
