Education and employment should connect

Deel was founded with the belief that career opportunities shouldn't be limited to where you were born.

Today we're extending that belief. Deel and University of the People are launching a transformed Career Resource Center inside UoPeople's learning platform. It's reaching over 200,000 students across 213 countries and territories. Deel's backing it by committing $500,000 over four years to fund platform accessibility and tool integrations.

What is University of the People?

UoPeople is the first nonprofit, tuition-free, American-accredited online university. Its students are fundamentally different from traditional higher ed. Most are already working while they study. They're parents, entrepreneurs, and people rebuilding careers after displacement. They're distributed globally. They can't afford to pause their lives for a degree. They need a direct path from learning to earning. That's what the new Career Resource Center provides.

What the Career Resource Center actually does

The Career Resource Center lives inside the university's learning platform, where students already spend their time. No logging into five different tools. No friction.

The center does four things:

  1. It offers AI-powered interview coaching and resume prep to ten thousand students nearing graduation through Big Interview. Students practice mock interviews, get real-time feedback, and optimize CVs for global hiring.

  2. It delivers self-paced skill certification through Accenture's Learning to Earning platform in modules that take 15 minutes to two hours. Students earn verified credentials they can add to LinkedIn and their CVs instantly.

  3. It gives students exposure to global remote work environments before they start their first job. They understand what distributed work actually looks like.

  4. It provides self-service tools for job search strategy and salary negotiation, so students can navigate the global job market with confidence.

These aren't theoretical tools. They're built for students who are already in the workforce. They need practical preparation for the next step, not abstract learning.

Early proof

In the first two months, thousands of students completed AI mock interviews and earned skill certifications. Over 270,000 students have finished Accenture modules and completed Big Interview sessions.

One student used the resume tool and Big Interview practice and landed her first remote role in three weeks. Another improved her English fluency through interview practice and immediately entered the global job market. That matters. That's the proof.

University of the People and Deel's Career Resource Center has helped me feel more confident by giving me practical guidance for preparing my CV, improving my interview skills, and understanding what employers may expect.

Why now, and why UoPeople

UoPeople's global student base mirrors Deel's global worker base. Same geographies. Same economic constraints. Same ambition. The mission alignment is clear: what they do for global education, we do for global work.

Five years ago neither UoPeople nor Deel existed. Both were built on the same belief: borders don't have to lock people out. Talent isn't a zip code. The future of work is borderless, and it's worth building toward.

UoPeople's students embody this reality. They're proving every day that you don't need a traditional degree pathway or geographic privilege to build a career. What they've lacked is practical preparation for the global job market. They've had the ambition and the skills. They've needed the tools—especially AI fluency. As work becomes inseparable from AI, students who don't have early exposure fall behind. This partnership makes sure they don't.

Deel funds the integration and maintains the platform. UoPeople owns the student relationship and the learning experience. Together, we're making it possible for +270,000 students to move directly from education to opportunity, equipped with the skills they'll need tomorrow.

The tools provided clear guidance on how to present my skills, structure professional application documents, and articulate my experience effectively. Having access to interactive interview practice helped reduce anxiety and gave me actionable feedback to present myself clearly to prospective employers.

What comes next

This is just one way that Deel and UoPeople are opening doors. It's not just theory. It's real. It's happening now.

The way the world works has changed. Let's make sure opportunity can follow.
